This cache is located next to the historic art deco Whittier Ice Cream Company building along the Whittier Greenway Trail.

For many years, the Whittier Ice Cream Company made and sold ice cream. Online sources date the art deco building to 1930. My mom grew up in Whittier in the 40s and 50s and remembers buying ice cream there; she says there was a retail counter, and you could get cartons of ice cream as well as ice cream bars. Later on, Cool-a-Coo ice cream sandwiches were manufactured here. The building underwent restoration in the early 2010s and is currently waiting for a new use. If you have memories of the ice cream company, please share them in your log!
The cache is along the Whittier Greenway Trail (itself a former Union Pacific railroad right-of-way). Posted trail hours are 4am-10pm daily.
The trees get regular attention from the city, it seems. Trying a new spot with a clipped-in hide. Forest green, so really blends in. Go to SECOND tree south of trash can. Take another step (about 2 feet) south, and turn around to face the wall. The green container is clipped to the plants on the wall, about 4 feet up.
