Have visited this area a lot recently , as the reserve and walkway are a very popular place for people to walk and exercise their dogs- and almost everyone in Herne Bay plus Ponsonby seems to own at least one !
I have been bringing a friend's dog here often for a doggie Playdate ....Sometimes there are about 14 here at any one time !
The playful dogs have a lovely time ....!
I decided it would be great to place a geocache along the Historic Walkway ! Just a few steps off the path ....
The path runs below the steep St Mary's Bay Cliffs ...and beyond a tall fence on the seaward side is the State Highway 1 Motorway .
It is the Original Foreshore Walkway ...Plaque near the parking areaa .
Take care to be discrete when hunting as it is a very well used pathway and link.....
I get to the walkway by parking at the carpark at the bottom of St Marys Rd .....but there are other ways to get here .
Lovely view of Westhaven and Harbour Bridge as you drive down the hill.
Tucked behind concrete ...short scramble ....Keep hidden with natural cover . New sort of container for me ....Leave hint items in it please ...
