This cache/puzzle was originally created in 2005 by BidDaddyD, and I found it in 2011 when I first started geocaching. It was a fun puzzle cache then, so I decided to bring it back with only a few changes. General parking around the courthouse is 30 minutes, so if you want to spend more time park in the 1 or 2 hour spots nearby.
The above coordinates will take you to the general vicinity of the cache where you must follow the instructions below to obtain the actual coordinates. No need to leave the sidewalk for any of the informational areas.
Once you are at the posted coordinates your search has just begun. You must find five different objects that contain clues to the final cache.
The cache coordinates are 35.36.EDC 088.4B.ADD.
1. Find a monument for the Illinois Central Railroad and find the dates listed on the monument. The last number of the last date = A.
2. Find the Word of Life memorial and find the date it was erected. The 2nd number of the date = B.
3. Find the monument to Madison County Confederate Dead and find the date it was erected. The 3rd number of the date = C.
4. Find the Eternal Flame monument dedicated to the veterans of all wars who paid the supreme sacrifice. How many lines of words are on the monument for the eternal flame? This number = D.
5. Find the historical marker that marks the spot where Davy Crockett said his historic words "To Hell with Tennessee, I'm Going to Texas" and find the date listed on the monument. The 2nd number of the date = E.
