Äntu Forest Hike series introduces you Äntu-Nõmme nature studies trail. The trail is located in a thickly forested part of the Äntu nature reserve. Situated 7–10 km south–south-east of Väike-Maarja, the trail passes by seven natural lakes and an artificial one (a reservoir) in Äntu and three artificial lakes in Nõmme. Along the trail you will see important historical and literary places, as well as Punamägi hill, which was home to Southern Virumaa’s biggest stronghold, Agelinde. The trail also introduces limestone production and slate sites in the Pandivere Slate Nation.
In the river there are lots of trees felled by beavers. You can see traces of beavers' action here: cut trees and tracks stamped into the ground. These our biggest rodents cut trees for building stack-dens and damming up the water to protect the dens. Beavers eat water-plants as well as the bark and branches of trees. NB! Be careful with the old fallen in beaver dens by the river bank. On the opposite bank of Nõmme river there are also several den entrances seen.

ÄMM (Äntu Metsa Matk) seeria tutvustab teile Äntu-Nõmme looduse õpperada. Rada paikneb metsarikkas oosistikus Väike-Maarjast 7-10 km lõuna ja kagu pool põhiliselt Äntu maastikukaitsealal. Piirkonna järvestikku kuulub seitse Äntu looduslikku järve. Ala kuulub Pandivere lubjatoiteliste järvede valdkonda. Piirkond pakub lisaks veekogudele huvi ka pinnavormide poolest. Järved asuvad siinsete põhja-lõunasuunaliste ooside ja nendega põimuvate mõhnade vahel.
Jões leidub rohkesti kobraste langetatud puid. Koprad, meie suurimad närilised langetavad puid, et ehitada kuhilpesi ja pesade kaitseks vett paisutada. Siit saavad nad endale kõhutäidet nii suvel kui talvel. Koprad toituvad veetaimedest ning puude okstest ja koorest. NB! Ettevaatust jõe ääres sisselangenud koprakäikudega. Nõmme jõe vastaskaldal on jälgitavad mitmed kopra pesade sissekäigud.
