Geocache Description:

Congrats FTF Big Read & Muggle Mark

Saw-Whet Owls are solitary creatures weighing in at a tiny 75-100 grams! In case you aren't sure how much that is 75-100 grams is equal to 2.6-3.5 ounces. If you need a further idea on how tiny that is like I did, put 13 quarters in your hand. Saw-Whet Owls are on average 7" tall with an adult wingspan of 15-23". They are omnivores with a lifespan of 7 years. The gestation period of a Saw-Whet Owl is 21-28 days, producing 4-7 eggs, with 5-6 being the most common. Baby owls are called Owlets. Saw-Whet Owls can always use assistance from humans with housing. They have to compete with a large number of other birds because they are so small. Refer to the photo gallery for more information if you would like to build an owl house.
