**This cache requires the use of a canoe, kayak, or other water-worthy vessel.**

At stage one you will find the newly constructed Middleville Veterans Memorial. To obtain the final coordinates, solve the puzzle below.

To solve the coordinates, find the sign that begins with “Middleville Area POW”. 

A= # of letters in Steve's last name
B= # of letters in Carver's first name
C= # # of deaths coming in even years
D= # of letters in the first word of the last line
E= # of letters in the first word of the 5th conflict

V= # of Vietnam conflict deaths
W= # of letters in the 2nd word of the last conflict
X= # of Korean War deaths
Y= # of letters in the 4th conflicts name
Z= # of Marines deaths for all conflicts

check sum for the north is 24
check sum for the west is 18

You'll find the cache hanging high and dry down river. For planning purposes, you can exit the river as early as Parmalee Road, however, you'll find easier exits at:

Option A: n42 46.488 w085 28.170. This choice requires about a quarter mile paddle up the Coldwater river, exiting at a landing on the south side of the river just past the bridge at Whitneyville Ave.

Option B: n42 50.339 w085 28.713. This choice is a longer paddle, but puts you out at Ruehs Park in Alaska which has a much larger take-out than option A. Also, no upstream paddle required.
