Silver 11 – Carlton Marshes – go over to get under Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Geocon1: Unfortunately a number of the caches on this series have disappeared in recent months. With this in mind, I have sadly decided to archive the series. I thoroughly enjoyed placing and maintaining these caches which in turn helped me to secure my Silver Duke of Edinburgh award. Hopefully someone will place a new series here in the future

Geocache Description:

As part of my Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, I have made 11 geocaches and created a short circular series around Carlton Marshes. You are looking for a small camo box

At 370 acres and extending over a mile from north to south, Carlton & Oulton Marshes are now the largest extent of wetland habitats in the Suffolk Broads and one of the most wildlife-rich parts of the county.

The reserve provides valuable habitat for many species of birds with over 150 species recorded on site. In recent weeks this has included the American Bitten which has brought many visitors to the marshes so be careful as there can be a lot of muggles in the area!

In addition to birds the marshes are home to numerous aquatic plants, mammals, reptiles and of course the Fen Raft Spider which thrives in the marshes having come back from the brink of extinction.

All caches are on public footpaths. Care should be taken as the footpath runs beside dykes and the river which can be hazardous. It can also be muddy at times so appropriate footwear is appropriate

Thank you to Suffolk Wildlife Trust for kindly allowing permission for the series to be placed around the Marshes.
