Geocache Description:

I am very happy to dedicate this Golden Ammo Can to McDoogins in recognition of his 1000th find! McDoogins chose to find “Divided We Fall…” during our trip to Florida in March which perfectly aligns with his interest in history. This tribute cache however is a type of cache that is undoubtably McDoogins favorite and the swag items inside are many of the things he enjoys finding in caches.

McDoogins and I started geocaching in August of 2014. We both quickly took a liking to it, but McDoogins was never about the numbers and was much more interested in the adventure along the way. In fact, I can only recall one geocache that he’s ever found without me, when he went to Texas for a business trip. During our first year of caching we found caches in Virginia, completed the Cayuga Lake Scenic Byway geotrail and we got our first FTF in September 2014 and we still have the $2 bill we got as the FTF prize. I remember vividly in November 2014 we went to find The Spot, the oldest cache in New York, and McDoogins found his 100th cache on our way home. Looking back now I can’t believe we found such an old, prestigious cache within our first few months of geocaching.

2015 was a very memorable year as well. McDoogins took me to New York City in April for my birthday and we completed the Bridges & Arches of Central Park multi cache, we traveled to Phoenix and found the oldest cache in Arizona, and we attended our first Mega event, ASP Geobash. All of these memories pale in comparison to the adoption of our wonderful pup Rogue in July 2015. Shortly after we got Rogue, she came with us to the Berkshire Geobash. She even came with us to Over the Falls when McDoogins and I found it for our 400th and 500th find milestones, respectively.

We’ve had many other amazing memories that we would not have without geocaching; our roadtrip to Denver for GeoWoodstock 14er and finding Mingo in 2016, caching in Massachusetts, West Virginia, Philadelphia, Washington DC and Florida, kayak caching, as well as attending many other events. We have added many new hobbies over the years, as referenced in the cache title, and have even brought some geocaching friends into these hobbies, but we still have fun going out geocaching.

Congratulations again McDoogins on this great accomplishment and thank you for so many great memories with Rogue and I. McDoogins has been awarded FTF of this cache pre-publication.
