Hoosier_Reviewer: Since there has been no response to my previous note, I am archiving the cache.

While we feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you for a reasonable amount of time, we cannot do so indefinitely. In light of the lack of communication regarding this geocache, it has been archived to free up the area for new placements. You will not be able to unarchive this listing. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up this geocache or any remaining bits as soon as possible.

"If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived."

Thank you,

Geocache Description:

I stumbled on this geocache accidentally and found that it had been archived 7 years ago. I'm relisting it since that seems easier than getting it unarchived. Only thing I changed is the name since this geocache has been through several floods in the past 7 years since it was last found. The original archived listing was GCGJPA. Here is the original description and instructions on finding the cache.

Fort Ouiatenon Historic Park is near the site of the first fortified European settlement in what is now Indiana, established in the 18th century by the French near what they called the Ouabache (Wabash) River. The fort and the settlement are long gone, but a blockhouse has been built at the park, which serves as a museum during the summer months. The park is also the site of the Feast of the Hunter's Moon, an 18th century re-creation of the settlement held in the autumn, complete with foods and crafts of the era.

For more information on the park, visit the Tippecanoe County Historical Association page.

And now, the important stuff...

This is a relatively simple two-and-a-half-part multicache. To solve for the coordinates of the cache itself, you'll need to apply a bit of arithmetic to information found at the first two coordinates given. The waypoint given is the first coordinate, where you will find a sign placed by the Indiana Historical Bureau. Add up the last two digits of every year on one side of the sign, then add the number of flagpoles that are nearby. This is XXX. As a check, the sum of the three digits should be fourteen. This gives the cache's latitude as N 40° 24.XXX'.

Next, proceed to coordinates N 40° 24.380', W086° 57.809' (this is very nearby and mostly unnecessary to mark as a waypoint). There is a plaque visible from this point marking the site of birth place of the first American priest of the West. The plaque contains his birth and death dates. Take the birth year and divide by 3. This is the distance in meters to the cache from the first coordinate. For the extra challenge, skip calculating the longitude and start heading west. Otherwise, take the age of when he died, multiply it by 3, then subtract the number of flagpoles from before. This is YYY, and gives the cache's longitude as W086° 58.YYY'.
