Traveling down bird-named streets on your way to the cache, you may see some of the activities that the Audubon Park Garden District has become known for: an organic community garden; front yard urban gardens; bicyclists providing composting service; and other signs of sustainable living.
Take a moment to relax on the park bench while you sign the log and trade swag, and you may see some of the bird species that John James Audubon famously drew in the early 1800s.
The bird "condos" are named for businesses in the Audubon Park Garden District -- on or near Corrine Drive. As of May 2022, most have fallen into disrepair, but an update of these birdhouses may be in the works very soon. The one you are seeking is brand new.
The cache you are seeking has room for small swag and a few small travel bugs. Feel free to post a photo of your favorite Feathered Friend Condominium.
John James Audubon was born April 26, 1785. This cache was originally placed here on his 233rd birthday.
The original condo was replaced in May 2020 as there had been ongoing issues with uninvited guests: a frog, wasps, and other assorted bugs. The only bugs you'll find in this totally new Feathered Friend Condo are Travel Bugs. In September 2021, a lock was added to the condo to deter muggles from removing the contents. That only lasted a few months. In May 2022, the geocache was completely replaced again. I'm hoping the muggles will either stay away or will join the fun!
