
The Holy Well , originally an open spring , may have been place where C9 th Celtic Saint Anietus first preached , standing in the water. Its healing powers were famed. and records of 1833 show that " weakly children used to be brought even from as far as Exeter to be bathed in the water of this well , on the first three mornings of May. " By the C 18th the well had been covered in , with a stone arch and doors to the inner chamber. It was rebuilt in 1852 and restored again in 1996
