Geocache Description:

This is a special cache dedicated to dsms99, a frequent cache trip companion and champion puzzle-solver, to mark his 10,000th find on April 22, 2018.

As with many tribute caches, please give dsms99 the opportunity to be First to Find!

The container is an ammo can placed in a very obvious location approximately 170 feet uphill from the new Turpin Branch Trail in Pulaski County Park. Photo is of the original placement, but new location is visible in upper left. NOTE: Stay on the trail until you are within 170-180 feet near where a culvert goes beneath the trail or you will have a tougher climb.

You can access Turpin Branch Trail just a short distance (about 1/4 mile) from the Eagle Scout Trail Trailhead (stay to the left) or from the gravel road at the bottom of the hill as you approach the Eagle Scout Trail parking area.

The trail itself is easy, but the climb to the cache will be steep - and during the summer months likely a bit grown up. Be prepared for possible briars, ticks and creepy-crawly reptiles.

As a bonus, right behind GZ is a U.S. Corps of Engineers Survey Marker. You will see a sign marking the boundary, and watch out for the barbed wire. UPDATE 3-27-20 - Original GZ and survey marker now covered by a huge fallen tree.

Pulaski County Park comprises more than 800 acres and is managed by the Pulaski County Fiscal Court under lease from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

In the last 10 years, the original 2.3-mile long Eagle Scout Trail - a national recreational trails project - has been supplemented with many miles of excellent hiking/mountain biking routes that range from easy to difficult. Many of the bridges in this area were constructed as Eagle Scout projects. The most recent upgrades were completed in 2017.

Directions: To reach the Eagle Scout Trailhead make a sharp left U-turn at the stop sign by the park office and follow that road to parking lot located at: N37 04.352 W084 42.280. .

Permission to place this cache was given by the Pulaski County Judge-Executive’s office.
