Gösen har en långsträckt kropp med en längd på upp till 130 centimeter och en vikt upp till 20 kilogram. Käken har tydliga, långa tänder. Till färgen är gösen vanligtvis ljust gråbrun. Även om färgen kan variera, är buken alltid ljusare än ovansidan. På sidorna finns mörkare tvärfläckar som är tydligast hos unga fiskar.
Gösen är en rovfisk, och med sin kraftiga tandbyggnad är den en konkurrent till gädda och abborre. Den tar främst mört, siklöja och braxen.
I maj är det inte tillåtet att fiska gös i Åsnen då det är då fisken leker. Officiellt har Sveriges största gös som fångats en vikt om 12,007 kg. Gösen är en populär matfisk som kan tillagas på olika sätt. CO äter helst gösen smörstekt, serverad med citron och kapris.
The zander
The zander has an elongated body with a length of up to 130 centimeters and a weight up to 20 kilograms. The jaw has clear, long teeth. The colour is usually light gray. Although the colour may vary, the stomach is always lighter than the top. On the sides there are darker spots that are clearest in young fish.
The zander is a predatory fish, and with its powerful set of teeth it is a competitor for the pike and the perch. It catches mainly small fish.
The zander is spawning in May and out of bounds for this month. Officially, Sweden's largest zander had a weight of 12,007 kg.
The Zander is a highly rated food fish that can be cooked in different ways. CO preferably eats it fried in butter, served with lemon and capers.
