With hundreds of geocaches already hidden among the beautiful scenery at our parks and preserves, Great Parks of Hamilton County is an ideal location for a picturesque GeoTour.
The Great Parks GeoTour launches May 19. Great Parks will host a table in front of Sharon Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with information about geocaching, passports and more.
The GeoTour includes 20 caches on two trails. One trail, for children and beginners, is located at Sharon Woods and includes five geocaches.
The second trail, open to everyone, is more difficult, with 15 caches, including the oldest geocache in the state of Ohio (not accessible) plus 14 other caches that meet ADA accessibility requirements. The caches are hidden in several Great Parks facilities.
Commemorative coins will be available for completion of the kids' trail and/ or completion of 10 of the 15 caches on the more difficult trail. Children's coins will be free to kids aged 12 and younger and $5 to those 13 and older. The first 100 adult coins claimed are free and then cost $5 each. Coins will be shipped for $3 or may be picked up in person inside Sharon Centre at Sharon Woods at a later date. Passports must be completed in order to receive a coin; each Geocaching account may claim one of each coin.
