Mardle #44 – Summer picnic at St Helens, Santon Downham
Please come and join us for our first Mardle and picnic
What is a Mardle? A. The word Mardle is a Norfolk/Suffolk slang for a chat, a gathering. 'It's a place to feed the ducks, lick an ice cream and have a "mardle" (Norfolk-speak for leisurely chat) on market days - Alastair Sawday, Slow Norfolk and Suffolk, Bradt Travel Guides, 2010, p.144.
It is used as a title for the monthly Geocaching meetings for the area. So please join us for our Monthly Mardle. Everyone welcome for a socialise and chat - we would love to see you all at this event.
Sunday 24th June 11am – 3pm
This will be our first Mardle and will be held at St Helen’s picnic site, Santon Downham.
Why not bring your own picnic, chairs, picnic rugs and make a day of it (unfortunatley the FC do not allow BBQ’s). There are public toilets nearby and plenty of free parking.
We are also planning to release a new series in the area for you to enjoy too.
And just for fun we are hoping to hold a “how close does your device get?” activity.
Please log your intention to attend and we look forward to seeing you all on the day.
Note 22.5.18 - Unfortunately there is no 4g at the site so we have asked for the series to be released the night before at around 9ish. Hope that helps with downloading them.
