This is the third of a short series of puzzle caches that are developed around some wordplay. I will provide some step by step directions that should make it pretty straightforward, but take care because the work involved can be tedious.
Step One: Find an album by Bonnie Raitt with a title that uses a metaphor from a game to refer to the role that chance plays in our lives. On that album, find the song where someone plaintively accepts what she cannot change (the sadder version of "I am not the boss of you.” ) I was also surprised to learn that Bruce Hornsby plays the keyboards on that song. In those song lyrics, find a 9 letter word that gets repeated once within the same verse. The word also has two meanings that are almost opposite of one another. Similar to how the phrase “fine for fishing” can mean that the fishing is good, or that you can be penalized if you are caught doing it.
Step Two: You are going to assign a numeric value to each one the letters in the word from Step One, where A = Zero and Z = 25. For example, the word MASK would have the following values: 12 - 0 -18 - 10. You should now have a unique value for each letter in your word from Step One.
Step Three: Perform the following calculations to get the 10 digits needed for the cache location, where "1L" refers to the numeric value of the first letter (for the example MASK, "1L" = 12, then "2L" = 0, etc):
1. L3 - L5
2. L1 - L6
3. L1 - L7
4. L4 - L7
5. L4 - L1
6. L5 - L6
7. L9 - L9 + L2
8. (L8 - L3) + (L5 - L6)
9. Square Root of L8
10. L4 - (2 * L7)
Your answer will be: N 38 XX.XXX W 077 XX.XXX
