I had the pleasure recently of taking a bunch of novices (K.J.R) on their first overnight tramp to Woolshed Creek Hut on ANZAC day 2018.
If you haven't stayed overnight in a doc hut I recommend this one as there is plenty of room and the hike in isn't difficult (2-3 hours) even for youngsters. My kids all love it and have been visiting since they were 5 years old.
