Geocache Description:

Welcome to Benhall, Cheltenham which is the Centre for the Cotswolds.

Benhall is an area named after the original Benhall Farm just off the A40.

The estate was mainly developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s on land that was previously farm land.  The estate is divided in two by a stream running through the local park.   Many of the roads are named after villages in the surrounding Cotswolds with the exception of Robert Burns Avenue which was named after the Scottish Poet and lyricist following many complaints from residents that he was not included in the road names for the St Marks area opposite Benhall across the A40.   Robert Burns (1759 - 1796) had a personal link with Cheltenham as two of his sons retired to Cheltenham remaining here until they died.  His granddaughter Sarah Hutchinson is buried in St. Marys Church Yard in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham.

Benhall has two schools, a playgroup, local shops,  a pub and approximately 1000 houses.

This is our first Geocache hide and a quick cache and dash with easy parking.
