Swing är en musikstil som utvecklades från jazz i USA under 1930 och 40 talet. Namnet kommer från att musiken har en ”swing feeling” som kommer från den synkoperade, drivande pulsen som kännetecknar musikstilen. Swing spelas ofta av storband som består av saxofoner, trumpeter, tromboner, gitarr, piano, kontrabas, trummor och ibland sång. Något annat som kännetecknar stilen är solister som improviserar på melodin. Kända swing musiker är bland annat Benny Goodman (the king of swing), Duke Ellington, Luis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Ella Fizgerald, Billie Holieday och Alice Babs. Några exempel på swing musik att lyssna på är: When I grow to old to dream av Nat King Cole, I don’t mean a thing av Ella Fizgerald och Get happy av Benny Goodman.
