This cache was hidden during the CITO in the Pines event held on Sunday, April 29th, 2018. WIth the help of all those in attendance, we found a good place, we think. Being that this area can flood, we hid this one up in a tree. You are looking for a small pelican box type of container hanging in a tree that will hopefully be safe next time it floods. There is an unactivated trackable for the first to find and a few trades items all in bags. please make sure everything stays in a bag so that when the cache is opened, everything doesn't fall out.
The cache is hidden in Wingfield Pines which is an Allegheny Land Trust property. Although you can choose to find your own parking and route to the cache, we recommend parking in the Wingfield Pines pull off, being careful not to block the gate. If the gate is open, you can drive down and check with the people how long the gate will be open for. I would also leave a note on the car with your number just in case. Typically the gate is only open when there are programs going on.
Once you park (assuming the gate was locked) you have about a mile round trip on trails. To start, walk down the paved drive. Once at the bottom hang a left and head on out to the creek. This is the off leash area, so be alert...don't want anyone to be startled. This area is a big dog walking area! Once you get to the creek, hang another left. There are turns you can take before the creek, but they will likely take you into some wetlands, so good luck.
The tree climb won't require climbing gear, but rather childlike tree climbing skills. You shouldn't remove the container and will have to open and do everything while in the tree, although, with a caching partner, the task might be easier.
Please let us know how the cache is doing in your log so that we can come out and take care of it as needed. If the rope seems not to be holding, let us know please. This cache isn't supposed to be hard to find, but is meant to offer a nice walk along the creek in an out of the way place. sometimes there will be no muggles and others, they will surprise you as you round a corner.
Dogs are NOT allowed. Too many people didn't think the rules applied to them, so they had to change their policy.
We hope you enjoy our CITO cache. The cache is labeled WP ALT CITO.
