This was the old Wallsend Cemetery from 1863-1896.
The cemetery was closed in 1896 when the new Wallsend opened on Sandgate road.
James Fletcher one of Newcastle's most prominent citizens was buried in old Wallsend in March 1891.
it was one of the largest funerals in the Newcastle district with newspapers reporting 25,000 people in the funeral procession.
