The cache is located just off of the Mosquito Creek Trail just before you reach the Bridge Trail.

The McNerney Splash Dam was built in the late 1800's when the virgin white pine and later hemlock and hard woods were cut through out the area. The splash dam was used to hold back water and logs to make a rush of water to float the logs down river and off to Williamsport, Pa where the major log mills were at the time. The remains of the splash dam can be seen just down stream from where McNerney Run meets Mosquito Creek. the cords are N41 13.480 W078 16.288. The breast works were over a hundread yards long. Constructed with logs, rocks, earth & boards. There is a lot of history present right here if only these remains could talk.
