Welcome to Mariposa Park. The City of Pasco opened Mariposa Park with a playground ribbon cutting on Saturday, June 11, 2016.
This new playground structure was paid for via park impact fees that are assessed on new development in the City. The cost of the playground, $140,000, was a 50% savings due to a sale the manufacturer was offering at the time of purchase. The Mariposa playground offers many fun activities for children, and since installation, has already been popular with neighborhood children. This playground is also one of my children’s favorite playground.
“This playground joins the other structures the City has replaced or installed throughout the City,” said Administrative and Community Services Director Rick Terway. “The City is always looking to maximize taxpayer dollars, and this playground is an excellent example.” The playground also has the next-generation “poured in place” fall protection that offers excellent safety while making clean-up easy and efficient for City staff.
While visiting the cache consider taking a few minutes to bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic, bring the kids to play on the playground, or if your short on time just make the quick grab and sign the log.
This is a high muggle area but your patience and short walk should be quickly rewarded with a smiley face. BYOP
