EXTRACT FROM INSPECTOR DIMMER’S NOTES ABOUT THE VICTIM AND SUSPECTS FOLLOWING INTERVIEWS WITH THE CACHERS AT THE CAMPSITE.
DR FANG – A Dentist in Bridlington. He married Mathilda’s Mum ten years ago. He has a good relationship with his step children and is called “Grandad” by Its Shocking’s two year old son. He happened upon a Flash Mob event seven years ago and was so fascinated by what he saw and was told, he joined Geocaching almost immediately and now has more than 6,000 finds.
Two days ago, Dr Fang and Mathilda’s Mum were helping another geocacher manoeuvre his camper van onto his pitch when the Verger appeared, complaining that the van was too close to the church boundary wall. Mathilda’s Mum had recognised her ex-husband, became very upset and went to her tent. The Verger had attempted to follow her, but was stopped by Dr Fang. This was witnessed by Its Shocking and KingstonVW.
Despite having deserted her, the Verger became angry when he learned Mathilda’s Mum had divorced him and accused Dr Fang of “stealing his wife”, to which Dr Fang responded that everyone thought he (the Verger) was dead, and if he continued to harass Mathilda’s Mum, he soon would be. The Verger had left the campsite, threatening both Dr Fang and Mathilda’s Mum.
