Everyday I, Alex, pass by this location on the bus. There is a sign here, maybe you have seen it before. One day I thought that I'd be able to make it into a puzzle cache with the aim of bringing to light a small piece of Willow Grove's history. The posted coordinates take you to the aforementioned sign, I should probably mention now that this is a FIELD PUZZLE! There are three ways to get to this sign, the first is to park on a side street and cross the road to the sign, the second is to travel to the provided parking coordinates and walk to the sign (I know it's a little far but don't worry the cache is extremely close to parking), or third, and probably the best if traffic allows, is to take a picture of the sign as you drive by (or sit at a red light) then travel to the parking coordinates to solve. It's best to try the photo taking strategy if you have two people in your vehicle, as it allows for safe driving and fun caching. Now that I've explained everything to you, here are the six questions that must be answered in order to form the coordinates to the final cache.
The final cache's location is at:
N 40 9.ABC W 075 5.DEF
A= There is a single date on the sign, in that date there is a number that only appears once. Find that number and subtract four from it, the resulting number is your A coordinate.
B= In that same date, find the most common number, double it. You now have your B coordinate.
C= This is an easy one; what color is the sign? How many letters are in the name of that color? The number of letters in the color's name is your C coordinate.
D= Looking at the writing on the sign, how many lines of white text appear on the sign? This is your D coordinate.
E= In this cache's name Willow Grove M.C.O.A, M.C.O.A stands for a title that can be found at the bottom of the sign. How many times does the letter 'i' appear in this title? The number of times I appears is your E coordinate.
F= Finally, add up all the letters in that same title (M.C.O.A) NOT counting the two quotation marks at either end. Take that total number of letters and subtract 13 from it, this gives you your F coordinate.
CHECKSUM: The last three digits in your N coordinate should be 314 LESS than the last three digits in your W coordinate.
We hope you have as much fun finding this cache as Ben and I did placing it!
Good luck and happy caching!
