Geocache Description:

The Chapel of Saint Vincent de Paul is served from the main Roman Catholic Church in Cambridge, Our Lady and the English Martyrs. Mass is celebrated on Sundays. While not the most beautiful church in Cambridge, it is, nonetheless, interesting. It is a ‘Tin Tabernacle’ and there are not many to be seen in this part of the country. After WW1 prefabricated war surplus buildings were sold and Baron Anatole Von Hügel paid the cost of one from a temporary hospital in Newmarket Road. It was moved to the Rectory garden in Lensfield Road in 1920. Here it served the Parish until 1936. It was then re-erected in Chesterton as St Laurence’s. Finally, after a new St Laurence’s was opened in 1958, it was re-erected on Ditton Lane. One day a more permanent building may be built on the spare land around the building.
