En djurpark i Bohus ?
Nej. Inte nu längre.
1965 köpte Dan Stenvall 5 hektar mark uppe i Jennylund och började bygga upp sin dröm. En egen djurpark.
Målet var att detta skulle bli Sveriges största djurpark men han blev motarbetad av myndigheterna. Redan efter ett par veckor efter öppnandet kom polisen och stängde ner det. Han var tvungen att åka upp till Stockholm för att häva beslutet. Länsveterinären kom ut titt som tätt trots att de visste att Dan gjorde allt och mycket mer för sina älskade djur.
Som mest hade han 25.000 besökare per år och på den tiden kostade inträdet 2.50kr/vuxen och 1kr/barn.
När myndigheterna vägrade ge tillstånd att bygga hus åt djuren trots att det var klassat som jordbruksfastighet köpte han in ett antal bussar utan motorer och inredde dem då de inte klassades som byggnader. Till och med myndigheterna insåg hur korkat deras beslut var och gav Dan tillstånd att uppföra byggnader.
Få vet att vi faktiskt haft björnar, vargar, apor och schimpanser m.m i Bohus. Både aphuset och björnarnas näste finns kvar.
Idag har han hårdrockskor (highland cattle, tjurar, höns, får, lamm, getter – och ankor.
Det är riktigt trevligt att promenera på vägen mellan inhägnaderna och titta på dessa djur i en lugn och fin miljö.
Har ni riktig tur så stöter ni även på Dan och om han har ett par minuter över så har han mycket att berätta.

A zoo in Bohus?
No. Not any more.
In 1965 Dan Stenvall bought 5 hectares of land in Jennylund and began to build his dream. His own zoo.
The goal was that this would be Sweden's largest zoo but he was opposed by the authorities. A couple of weeks after the opening, the police came and closed it down. He had to go to Stockholm to cancel the decision. The county veterinarian came out over and over again, even though they knew that Dan did everything and much more for his beloved animals.
At the most he had 25,000 visitors per year and at that time the cost was 2.50kr / adult and 1kr / child.
When the authorities refused permission to build houses for the animals despite the area was being classified as agricultural property, he bought some buses without engines and made them home for the animals since the busses weren't classified as buildings. Even the authorities realized how stupid their decisions were and gave Dan permission to start to build real buildings.
Few know that we actually had bears, wolves, monkeys and chimpanzees, etc in Bohus. Both the monkey house and the bears' nest remain.
Today he has "hardrock cows" (highland cattle), bulls, hens, sheep, lambs, goats and ducks.
It's really nice to walk on the road between the fences and watch these animals in a quiet and nice environment.
