This is a challenge cache. The cache is at the posted coordinates. Cache hunters are welcome to sign the log at any time but cannot log this as a find until they complete the challenge.
The challenge: Log a "Found It" or "Webcam Photo Taken" on the oldest geocache of a particular type. The type can be traditional, unknown, virtual, multi, earth, letterbox, webcam, or whereigo. I did a little research to prepare this challenge cache.
To meet this challenge, you must have:
Found ANY Traditional cache placed on or before 11 May 00 (GC30 "Mingo") OR
Found ANY Mystery cache placed on or before 30 Sep 00 (GC70 "Octopus Garden") OR
Found ANY Virtual cache placed on or before 15 Jan 01 (GC17F "Fremont Saddle") OR
Found ANY Multi cache placed on or before 11 Jun 00 (GC1E "Tour of Stone Mountain") OR
Found ANY Earthcache placed on or before 6 Jul 02 (GC6D8B "NC Geology #1: Paleo Pavement Earthcache") OR
Found ANY Whereigo cache placed on or before 23 Feb 08 (GC19M6B "Ramapo Tour") OR
Found ANY Letterbox Hybrid placed on or before 7 Apr 01 (GC61F "Slices of Quince) OR
Took a webcam photo at ANY webcam cache placed on or before 31 Oct 01 (GC25B6 "Catamount Cache-cam").
To the best of my knowledge, these are the oldest ACTIVE geocaches of each type as of 9 May 20. If these aren't the oldest of each type, drop me a line and I'll correct the list."
I have found both GC30 "Mingo" and GC70 "Octopus Garden."
The Grandfather rule: If you have found a geocache that was older than one on the list but has been archived, you still qualify for this cache. You may enter a "Found It" log after finding and signing the log inside the physical container. E.g. if you found GCF "Original Stash" before it was archived but have not found GC30 "Mingo" yet, then you qualify for finding the oldest active traditional cache.
Unlike the "Original Stash Plaque," this list is not set in concrete. If one of the geocaches on this list gets archived, the next oldest of the same type will count as qualifying for this cache. Just drop me a line and I'll make the necessary updates."
The Project GC Challenge Checker will verify you qualify.
Enjoy and good hunting!
