Welcome to Chernobyl little tour in Kyjev #10 Traditional Cache

The town of Pripyat is located on the bank of the river with the same name. It was connected by river routes with Kiev, which was capital of the Soviet Ukraine, and Mazyr town in Belarus. Using hydrofoil ship "Raketa" it was possible to get to Kiev for 2 h 50 min while the duration of the bus trip on the same route was more then three hours. Pripyat riverside station was built in the picturesque part of the town. On its territory, they also built a riverside cafe named after the city, "Pripyat". It became a favorite place for rest for locals as the town park and a beach were located there as well. It was planed to build two new town microdistricts on the opposite bank of the creek but the accident happened, so it was never done. Now the river port is has many places with considerably higher levels of radiation, and the Geiger-counter goes crazy at the "hot spot" localized on the stairs.

Місто Прип'ять розташоване на березі однойменної річки. Воно з'єднувалось річковим сполученням з Києвом, столицею радянської України та містом Мазир у Білорусії. На кораблі «Ракета» до міста можна було дістатися з Києва за 2 год 50 хв, у той час, коли той самий маршрут автобусом тривав більше трьох годин. Річкову станцію Прип'ять було збудовано у мальовничій частині міста. Поруч знаходилось однойменне кафе, назване на честь міста, в якому полюбляли проводити час місцеві жителі. Поруч були пляжі та міський парк. Планувалося збудувати ще два мікрорайони на протилежному березі річки, але аварія перекреслила усі плани. Сьогодні річковий порт одне з місць, з найвищим рівнем радіації, а лічильник Гейгера «зашкалює» на сходах.
