Geocache Description:

Tread Carefully

Jørgen looked over the flat marshland near Halen that eventually led to the beach and a panoramic view of Esbjerg. He stood beside the large sign that read danger mines. It had a rough painting of a skull and crossbones at the top.

Barbed wire was everywhere blocking access to what was once a beautiful part of the island. Old Poul had told him there was plans to lay fifty thousand mines over key spots on the island as part of the fortifications.

Fifty thousand mines thought Jørgen. How on earth nobody had been hurt so far from treading on a mine was a miracle. So far, the only casualties had been a couple of farm animals. But that situation may not last.

There were all types of mines planted on the island, some to stop armour like tanks and others called anti personnel mines to stop foot soldiers. How on earth would they get them all lifted when the war was over.

Jørgen shrugged and turned away from the minefield. People will be killed lifting these mines he thought.
