The 92-km Celtic Shores Coastal Trail stretches from Port Hastings to Inverness on the west coast of beautiful Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Passing lanes were all along this railway, making sure trains had places to pass by each other, or in many cases, a place to unhook cars they did not want or need to pull. This would have been one of them, the station in Stratlorne is a little ways off, so if a train was running late out of Inverness it was better to have a place to pass mid way then have 2 trains late.
