This cache is placed within the Mines of Spain recreation area with the permission of the Iowa DNR. This park is open year round from 4:00am to 10:30pm.
Park at either the Julien Dubuque Monument Parking Lot or the Catfish Creek Canoe Access Parking Lot and take the Julien Dubuque Foot Trail.
This Geocache can be located along the Julien Dubuque Foot Trail, about halfway between the Julien Dubuque Monument Parking Lot and the Catfish Creek Canoe Access Parking Lot. On the upward side of the trail, there is a large Black Walnut tree with a hollow at its base. Take a peek inside, you will find our troops first Geocache.
