After spending some time puzzle solving on a caching and canal boat holiday with "Team Black Prince": AlmostE-Ville, fly2live2fly, Ukecan and GMPB the idea came up for a dedicated event to share in the love of puzzle caching and sharing techniques. It also occurred to us that many cachers either actively avoid or do not know how to go about solving puzzle caches. Either lacking resources, time or confidence to do so. Or simply not enjoying the experience. We hopefully want to change that.
The event:
This event is about engaging and empowering cachers (new and experienced) to go out and get more from the puzzle caching experience.
The geocaching event guidelines state that events: "Cannot be set up for the sole purpose of finding geocaches".
In respect of that rule and of the many cache owners who invest time and effort into their puzzle cache experiences please note the following:
- We are not meeting to share previously solved coordinates, this is not in the spirit of the game nor this event.
But we will:
- Provide resources during the event (puzzle caching resource books, scrap paper, pens, WIFI, etc) to empower you to start practicing solving puzzle caches and hopefully enjoy it.
- Give newer cachers an introduction into puzzle caching.
- Provide some general example puzzles and common encryption techniques to build all of our expertise and experience.
- Provide a social space to meet other cachers, even if you have no interest in puzzles.
When:
Feel free to pop in anytime between 9.30am and 11:30am on the 2nd of June 2018.
The time is chosen so people still have time to go off and do their own geocaching thing for the day - hopefully solving some puzzles!
Where:
The event is held at the coordinates (Costa Coffee in the retail park near Netherfield) but use the following address for vehicle sat nav: 40 Victoria Park Way, Nottingham NG4 2PE.
The location has been selected as it has free parking, has good disability access, is relatively easy to get to and the staff love having us around!
You are under no pressure to purchase a drink or food, the venue are happy to have us as per previous events.
