Geocache Description:

In September of 2006, about 5 months before I started geocaching, Hotlanta placed a multi cache called Going, Going, Gone! at this exact location. Check out GCYJG6.

I didn't Target this one until I did a challenge that required a hundred multi caches to have been found. But I do remember that when I started geocaching, a lot of the ones that I puzzled over, scratched my head over, and enjoyed greatly after the fact, had been placed by Hotlanta. He is one of the many legends in this area. I think this cache lasted longer than his geocaching career. Many rumors abound as to what he is up to now, some involve margaritas and a beach in Tahiti and some involve pizza and beer in Newnan.

Creekwader, CRS, and I tried to find this cache after someone had tried to fix it to save the placed date. Paf's and talking to people at events did not help. But I went back out there one time after someone showed me a picture and found it over 200 feet away from where the final stage was supposed to be. Later on when Rhodorooter and I went out there, we discovered that the replacement stage 1 was actually accompanied by Hotlanta's original information there. So right now at stage one there are two ways of getting the incorrect coordinates for stage 2.

How is that going to help you? you might ask. Well I'm going to tell you what I think must have happened here. The north coordinates seem to be fine, although subtracting 0.008 from them might help. But the real problem was with the West coordinates. Let's call the numbers after the decimal ABC. When you find stage one, you will see that B and C are the same. The replacement cache was hidden where A and B are the same. And if you do the arithmetic on that, you will see that the coordinates were actually off by about 264 feet. And with this information, I have provided you with a second method of finding it if what I was saying about ABC doesn't make sense.

Replacement container is still in action with a new log in it. Feedback would be welcome about your distance from the "new" coordinates and from the original location of the ammo box that Hotlanta hid.

Congratulations to FIRST TO FIND: Flip and Jazz don't let them sit for long !!!
