Note: Unfortunately this beautiful garden has not been taken care of and the stairs are often not passable. If you visit please let me know if you are able to get into the gardens. Hopefully they will fix soon as it is a beautiful garden. Here is some of what is up the stairs...The Penang Avatar Secret Garden is one of those great hidden finds in Penang. Most people who have lived here for years have never seen it. It is a very peaceful garden tucked up behind Thai Pak Koong Temple, Tanjong Tokong. There is parking at the temple for 3 myr. Near the car park is a watch tower you can climb to look out over the ocean. There is a beautiful sand beach that extends out to the fishing village that has many beautiful carved sculptures on it. There is a long rock piling pier that you can walk out along. Many people like to go fishing here. After you have explored the beach area, walk back behind the Temple. You will see a stairway going up under an arch. Go explore! It is a fully shaded area to escape the Penang heat. There is a HUGE checkers board under the big tree. There is a gazebo with chairs for stopping to relax. There is a large golden snake statue that you will find people have left prayer offerings in front of. Continue following the boardwalk around the "Secret Garden". If you go at night you will be amazed with the hundreds of lights that are hanging from the large trees. Continue to follow the boardwalk past the hundreds of tulips. At the bottom of the ramp go straight towards the ocean. There are stairs down to the water. It is a beautiful spot for photos!! Note: There is currently no access to the original geocache, due to the lack of upkeep. Sad. I have placed a new cache outside of the gardens. Coordinates are correct. Orange building. Happy hunting.
