Geocache Description:

This is what remains of a cemetery where an estimated 500 people of color were interred in the 1800s.  While we were studying the area, a lovely woman, out for her afternoon stroll,  shared with us how this area came to be.  She told us how she found several of these gravestones buried in the weeds and dirt- fallen over, broken, and lost to the sands of time.  She joined up with the Town Of Kinderhook to restore the salvageable gravestones, creating a respectable resting place for the souls that would otherwise have been forgotten.

Located in a village park, there are nearby picnic tables, tennis courts, baseball fields, and playground equpiment.
