Welcome to Moreau State Park, which is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year! With our challenge caches, we have highlighted some of the more historical parts of the park so be sure to read the write ups below.
NO ACCESS TO THIS CACHE AFTER NOVEMBER 1ST
Welcome to Moreau Lake State Park! This cache is located in the western regions of the Park, off Corinth Road. From Corinth Road, take Hawk Pond Road for approximately 1 mile to the parking area. (Note that the last ½ mile of Hawk Pond Road is a dirt road that needs to be driven carefully, best with a vehicle with high clearance.) From the parking area, follow the blue trail (Stonewall trail) to the site of the abandoned log drive and the cache. Note the stone wall that runs along much of the trail. Enjoy!
This cache has been placed as part of the New York State Saratoga/Capital District Regional Geocache Challenge. There are 72 geocaches hidden within 18 state parks and historic sites in this park region, and geocachers finding 45 or more will be eligible to receive a 2018 Schodack Island State Park commemorative and trackable geocoin. If you are interested in taking the challenge, you can pick up a geocache passport at any of the participating parks and sites or download it at www.nysparks.com
