This is an offset cache. The posted coordinates are a Virtual Stage. Solve for the physical container at the Final.
Haney Creek Preserve is a natural area owned and managed by the City of Stuart. The titular creek is a small tributary of the St. Lucie River, with the mouth of the creek located at Rio Nature Park on Alice Street. The North and South Trails at Haney Creek is accessed from Baker Road with a parking lot next to Felix William Elementary School. A new East Trail opened in 2018, to be expanded toward Baker Road in the future. A West Trail is also planned closer to US 1.
WARNING: since this cache was placed, a sidewalk was constructed along the west side of the road, effectively removing legal roadside parking (do not park on the sidewalk). Parking on the east side of the road with all wheels off pavement is difficult. You might be able to park in the nearby church lot, otherwise you'll probably need to park at the shopping plaza to the south. Wherever you park, please obey posted signage.
The East Trail is flat and grassy, except for a wooden boardwalk and concrete spillway on the north side. Currently, there are are two pedestrian gates for the East Trail along Dixie Highway. There is no parking lot so you must park along the road, but there is plenty of room. All wheels off the pavement for safety and do not block the gates. There is a restroom at the North Trail parking lot, but no facilities at the East Trail.
While placing this cache I saw an osprey, anhinga, and heron plus smaller birds. Signs along the trail also warn of possible gators and snakes.
At the posted coordinates you will find a monument to Jeffrey Krauskopf, a longtime local elected official had an important role in the creation of Haney Creek Preserve. Use the information on the monument plaque to determine the location of the Final.
