I am sure you will all have heard about the Founding of the Orpheus on the dangerous Manukau Bar in front of this viewnig area.
189 sailors perished ....this was the highest casualty rate for a shipwreck in NZ Waters....

While holidaying and caching round Awhitu Peninsula, I noticed there are not many geocaches in this area ...so thought I'd add one !
Please keep covered with big stones ....old marmite jar with small log container and some toys inside ....
Totally safe to pull over as it is a designated rest area !
