What could be better than a “CEMETERY Cache”, you ask? How about a “Cemetery NIGHT Cache”? What could be better than a “Cemetery Night Cache”? How about a “Cemetery PUZZLE Night Cache”? Careful what you wish for, my friends……….
This cache is located in the Presque Isle Cemetery, on County Hwy W, a few miles west of Presque Isle, Wisconsin. The cache is a locked ammo box (aka the Vault), and you will need to solve the puzzle in order to open it.
While I could have made this much more difficult, by making you actually locate headstones in the cemetery, I have decided to take pity on your mortal souls, and let you solve part of the puzzle by using your computer. To do that, you must go to Findagrave.com, and search for Presque Isle, WI. It will take you to the correct location in Vilas County.
Once there, you will need to find the sum of the years that the following people died:
John Hicks + Henry Rutherford + Eli Vernon Aikins + Myrtle Jentz =________. The total will be a four digit number.
If you are adventurous enough to go to the cemetery at night, I will guarantee you that, by using your flashlight, the Vault will be easier to find than it would be during the day. As you make your way to GZ, you can “reflect” on your progress. Drive toward the back of the cemetery, When you are alomost at the end, shine a powerful flashlight to you right. When you do this, the trail to the cache will be clearly marked.
Now, all you have to do is enter those four digits in the correct sequence, and you can unlock the ‘vault’. Inside, you will find the log in a container that is appropriate for this cache. Please replace the vault, and its contents, exactly as you found them. Do not post the puzzle answers when logging your visit, or it will be deleted.
Once you have opened the box, please replace the lock, lock it, and PLEASE SPIN THE TUMBLERS! (it won’t be locked until you do this)
NOTE: THE CACHE IS NOT LOCATED NEAR ANY GRAVES, AND YOU SHOULD BE RESPECTFUL OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS. WHILE IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU FIND THE “VAULT” AT NIGHT, I UNDERSTAND THAT SOME OF YOU MAY WANT TO DO THIS DURING THE DAY.
