Pearl Hill Scenic View Traditional Cache

Pearl Hill is a popular exercise route in the morning for runners, walkers and bicyclers. You can walk about 1 mile up to this spot or, feel free to drive up. There is parking. Drive/ walk right to the end of Puncak Bukit Mutiara 2. There are beautiful views all along the road. Once you have gotten to the end of the road. Take a look over the edge. You will see the ocean and many beautiful buildings and houses in this scenic view. Now look closely at the buildings near to the edge of the mountain. You will see how they cut the mountain away to build these buildings. This is a very risky business and often backfires for Penang during big rain storms. You will notice evidence of landslides (the cement now covering the dirt). You will also see metal barriers hammered into place to try to hold the dirt back during rain storms. Now look to the other side of the road. You will see a mini aqueduct designed to take the water off the mountain and steer it away from all the buildings. Fingers crossed this works for all the people who are in the houses and apartments below! If you are lucky you may get to see the troop of dusky leaf monkeys that like to hang out in this area. Look for the geocache near the scenic view. Please re-hide well so the monkeys don't take it! Thanks!
