The name of this cache, which is not found at the posted coordinates, is the title of a book written by a one-time resident of Toronto.
I used to see him frequently, most often in the subway as he went to and from his favourite busking location wearing one of his message-bearing sweatshirts.
I knew he was active in politics (not only because of the sweatshirt) and obviously was a musician, but had no idea about the other interesting aspects of his life.
For instance, I had no idea what a spicy dude he was (hence the book title)! Or that he ran from Toronto to Los Angeles for a very specific reason.
This cache is in his honour. It’s an easy little puzzle to help you learn a bit about a unique individual who is part of Toronto’s history.
Cache is at:
N43 40.ABC W 79 20.DEF
He was born in 19D0 in the province of ______ (F = digital root of the province's name).
He released his first single in 19A3, and quit his well-paying job in 19B1.
He ran for mayor of Toronto many times, the last time in the election of 20C3.
In the 1997 election, he finished in position #E
NOTE: Be careful if you're using a geocaching app to solve the digital root – it currently seems to default to A=26 instead of A=1, which is what you want here.
I've provided a hint for the final location so you can get in and out as quickly as possible. Stealth is important here.
Congrats to geoBirder and OnTheBroom for the FTF!
And congratulations to clues-uh (and pups) on STF!
And to Henry&Co, filling in third!
