The Tanjung Bungah Wet market is open daily from 8am to 12 noon and on Tuesday evenings from 7pm - 11pm for a night bazaar. One of the biggest wet markets in Penang, Tanjung Bungah Market serves the neighbourhood of Tanjung Bungah and the nearby community of Tanjung Tokong and Batu Ferringhi. The wet market is housed in a two-storey complex located at the back of the Tanjung Bunga bus interchange. It is set behind the Geok San Soo Temple off the main road. The market opens early in the morning and closes at noontime. The spacious wet market has separate sections for fresh vegetable, poultry, seafood, beef and pork. On the side, there are shops selling clothing, accessories, housewares, traditional medicines and other sundry items. At the back, you can find a few stalls selling many varieties of fruits. Adjacent to the wet market is the big hawker centre where you can be spoilt with many local dishes. Try out the Nasi Lemak, Hakka Noodles, Fish Porridge or Char Koay Kak for a hearty breakfast. Or get some light meal on the go like kuih, chicken pies and pau. Some of the favourites here are Hokkien Mee, Asam Laksa, Mee Suah, Koay Teow Soup and vegetarian food. The market transforms into a colourful busy night bazaar every Tuesday night. Locals flock to buy fresh produces and street snacks like crispy pancakes (ban chang kuih), and homemade cakes to match with nutmeg juice and other beverages. You can also find electronic gadgets, cheap housewares, clothing and accessories. Tanjung Bungah is one of the most prominent places in Penang. It is becoming more urbanized with the construction of modern condominiums and hotels. Nevertheless, it has not lost its tranquillity and rurality in many aspects. The area is attracting more tourists who want to enjoy the sandy beaches of Penang in a quieter environment. The cache is hidden behind the wet market area. Look low. SPOR. Use hint for more clues.
