Geocache Description:

Meet from 10:30am-11 at the posted coordinates, the Port Gamble Road Trailhead for the Port Gamble Trails. At 11am, those who wish can take a ride on the trails.

The 29th in a series of events along the many mostly flat, mostly paved biking/walking trails in the Seattle area. This time we'll be riding around the Port Gamble Trails, which are not paved and not flat. If you want to ride the trails, a mountain bike is recommended, but you can walk around as well. I'm not an expert mountain biker, so I will be sticking to the roads and easy trails.

Per geocaching.com event guidelines, the actual event is the meet-up from 10:30am-11 at the posted coordinates, which is the Port Gamble Road entrance to the trails. The parking area here is not large, and may be full even without geocachers, although Google Street View suggests one can park along the road. I'll be biking there.

This event is outdoors, but I will only cancel this event if the weather is terrible: heavy rain, lightning/thunder, snow or ice. Bring a waterproof layer if it might rain, and enough layers/gloves/etc to ward off any cold.

Information for the ride:

I'm not marking off a particular route, as I've never biked this area of the park before. The geocaching.com map has a reasonable map, and here's a more detailed one you may wish to print out in advance. I'll be sticking to the red lines (roads) and green lines (easy trails) for the most part. You can follow me, or go off on your own.

Please show up well before 11 so we can leave on time. Check your brakes and air beforehand if you will be biking. Remember that you will likely want to take a ferry unless you live in the area.

Participants in the optional bicycle ride hold harmless the cache owner/event organizer and assume all risks and responsibilties involved in riding a bicycle on trails and streets. Wear a helmet, dress in layers, and bring a spare tube.
