Happo-gahara is 1,000 to 1,200m highland, located in Yaita-City. There are located forest park and seveal walter falls around Happo-gahara.
Happo-gahara is very popular for roadbikers as hillclimb and hillclimb race hold every summer (distance 13.4km, avarage gradient 7.1%) it is called "L-Alpe-d'Huez of Tochigi". You can see magnificent view from Ohmamadai viewing platform at the top of the hill which is the goal point of race.

八方ヶ原は、栃木県矢板市にある標高１，０００～１，２００ｍの高原で、周辺には県民の森や赤滝・小滝・寺山の鉱泉があるなど、豊かな自然に恵まれた地域です。
八方ヶ原はロードバイク愛好家達の間ではヒルクライムの聖地として有名で、毎年夏にはヒルクライムレースも開催されています。
このヒルクライムレースは、八方ヶ原の観光道路を利用した全長１３．４㎞、平均斜度７．１％、標高差９５０ｍを上るコースで、ツール・ド・フランスの山岳コースに似ていることから、「栃木のラルプ・デュエズ」と呼ばれています。八方ヶ原コースのゴールである大間々台の展望台からは、雄大な関東平野の眺望とともに大自然の楽園が出現します。
