Geocache Description:

As we searched for the perfect spot for a cache we learned about the “Octopus Tree” and came to realize how much impact this one tree had on the life of many. We watched as people carried out pieces of its limbs and heard stories of its magnificence, and dismay in its collapse. The Octopus Tree was loved amongst the local kids and grown ups alike, for a short period it served as an impromptu playground, and will forever be in the memory of many.
The tree went down during the last nor’easter but it is a reminder of how wonderful and unique Mother Nature's creations are and how magical the outdoors can be. Take your time to enjoy the trails and all the wonders Mother Nature has to offer. The cache is hidden by the roots of the fallen, please do not push the ammo can too deeply as the cache is meant to be kid friendly.
