Mystery Science Theater 3000
Mystery Science Theater 3000 (or MST3K for short) is an American television series created by Joel Hodgson. It is about a test subject who is held prisoner on a satellite orbiting the earth and who is forced to watch B-grade movies to determine their network worth or the one that will drive the test subject insane. To keep his sanity, Joel built himself a series of sentient robots, two of which (Croooow and Tom Servo) would join him, along with the television audience, as he watches the movies. The three characters (who are on screen) continuously comment, remark, wise-crack and heckle the film as it plays. At regular intervals throughout the movie, the hosts leave the theater and return to the bridge of the Satellite to parody and satirize the film being watched. Naturally, science fiction figured prominently in the weekly movie selections.

| Film and Synopsis |
Screenshot |
| "Moon Zero Two" (1969) - A down and out astronaut helps a woman find her lost brother and uncovers a wicked conspiracy in the process. The film features a debatably inappropriate jazz sound track. |
| "Space Travelers" (1969) - A NASA rocket malfunctions and strands its crew in space. Supplies run short and it seems there is not enough oxygen left before a rescue ship can be sent. Just as things look hopeless help arrives in the nick of time. A stellar cast struggle to breathe life into this one. |
| "Attack of the The Eye Creatures" (1965) - A small town is ravaged by creatures from outer space. The creatures have no inherent strength, weapons, communication or agenda but they look like they are perpetually yawning as they wander the night causing panic among the town's inhabitants. |
| "Cosmic Princess" (1982) - Some members of Moonbase Alpha are enslaved by an alien scientist who is trying to restore his ravaged world to its former glory by using a biological computer that derives its energy from the minds of intelligent beings. Just as the Alphans make their escape, the Moon passes through a Space Warp and the scientist's daughter is stricken by a fever and loses control of her metamorphic ability - becoming beasts the Alphans cannot manage. A great film for grimacing. |
| "Project Moonbase" (1953) - The U.S.A. builds a space station which serves as a base from which people can travel to the moon. Spies attempt to sabotage the project but fail. A spaceship is stranded on the moon and will be used as Moon Base Number One, but to avoid scandal the astronauts must get married - a cautionary tale if ever there was one. |
| "Fugitive Alien" (1987) - An alien marauder becomes a fugitive from his planet, then joins the Earth spaceship Bacchus 3 to fight against his former masters. This movie demonstrates the universal principle that fork lifts are necessary devices even in outer space. |
| "Hangar 18" (1980) - A UFO lands in Arizona. The ship is captured and scientists make several startling discoveries while studying the alien craft but the government will go to any lengths to make sure things remain hushed up until after the next election. Where is Illya Kuryakin when you really need him? |
| "The Human Duplicators" (1965) - A depressed alien is sent to earth as a last chance to prove his worthiness but his efforts to replicate important scientists are hindered by his fondness for a young woman. |
| "Rocketship X-M" (1950) - Despite painstaking calculations a rocketship to the moon veers off course and lands on Mars. Oops. The crew discover the remains of an advanced civilization that has come to ruin. Two crew members are killed on Mars, and one dies on the way home, and the remaining crew die (and Lloyd Bridges finally shuts up) when supplies run out and the ship crashes on earth. |
| "First Spaceship on Venus" (1960) - Scientists send an expedition to Venus in the hope of discovering intelligent life. But when they arrive at their destination they discover Venusian civilization has been destroyed by their own weapons. |
| "The Space Children" (1958) - A scientist and his family move to a military base where he is to work on a new nuclear weapon. An alien lands nearby and uses the children of military families to put an end to the project. Uncle Fester never looked so masculine. |
| "Star Force" (1987) - The Fugitive Alien, Ken, and the rest of the Bacchus 3 crew are ordered to destroy an alien super-weapon. With that taken care of they must still reckon with Ken's vengeful ex-lover Rita (meter maid) and confront the sinister leader of the marauding Star Wolves. No love for Barbie in this one. |
| "It Conquered the World" (1956) - An alien from Venus invades Earth and attempts to turn humans into emotionless servants. With the help of his wife as well as Jim Phelps and the IM force, a naive scientist seeks to destroy the alien. Produced and directed by Roger Corman (in case you wanted to know). |
| "12 to the Moon" (1960) - An international team of astronauts travel to the moon but their explorations are brought to a premature halt by a lunar force that spares the humans when it/they learn about kittens and the power of love. |
| "Robot Monster" (1953) - A deep-sea-diving alien gorilla destroys all human civilization except for a young woman and her family. Features rockets, dinosaurs, and bubbles. |
