Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small sized container at Staatsburgh Historic Site. The photographs in the cache are to remain in the cache – do not take.

Completed in 1855, a gothic style stone mansion called “The Point”, was built for Blanche Geraldine Livingston Hoyt and her husband Lydig Monson Hoyt.  Mrs. Hoyt was the aunt of Ruth Livingston Mills who lived at the Staatsburgh mansion.  The architect of The Point was the famous Calvert Vaux.

The Hoyt family no longer lives at this residence, and the home currently sits vacant.  If you follow the Service Road northwest and then the Blue Trail southwest, you will come upon The Point. You will see that it is in need of restoration in order to show visitors what the mansion looked like over 150 years ago.
