Geocache Description:

In 2018 Kelvin Court celebrates its 80th birthday!

Designed by J N Fatkin of Newcastle, Kelvin Court was built in1937-1938 and consists of two 6 and 7 storey H-plan blocks of luxury flats with separate garage blocks. The construction of luxury flats was rare in Glasgow at this time, although the development bears strong similarities to blocks of luxury flats that were built in and around London during the 1930s in the art deco style: reinforced concrete frame with brick facing and decorative brick detailing, prominent horizontal white painted concrete banding mainly defining balconies and main windows. Metal-framed multi-light windows, small pane glazing with horizontal panes to centre lights of square projecting windows. Flat roofs with lift towers and grouped stacks.

Kelvin Court was essentially the first luxury flat development in Glasgow and It is a very unique development in that there is very little like it elsewhere in Glasgow, especially not at this scale. Many of the flats are said to retain some of the original 30’s features.

Container is a standard magnetic nano. Beware of muggles and replace exactly where found. Bring your own pen and tweezers
