A historic Roman Catholic church located in Bel Ombre, the Eglise de Saint Roch is in the diocese of Port Victoria on the island of Mahé.
With its tall, elegant bell tower rising above the forecourt, Saint Roch has been called the most beautiful church of Mahé. The cream stone exterior has impressive archways at the front to access the church, while the interior is simple, yet stunning, with its traditional wooden pews lining either side of the tiled aisle. The ornate altar is carved from wood, as is the pulpit, with intricately-detailed chairs to the side and a holy painting and other religious artefacts adding colour to the subdued background.
It is a pleasant place to visit, with a scenic walk - passing by the bazaar and other local shops - leading to the church, which has a seating area outside where visitors can meditate, say a prayer or simply enjoy a quiet and tranquil moment. It is a clean, well-maintained and friendly church in the heart of the village of Bel Ombre.
The cache is a photo canister hidden in the public garden of the church.
As we come here frequently, cache maintenance shouldn't be a problem.
